Description
Sterling silver model of a De Havilland DH.88 Comet Aeroplane. A british twin engine aircraft designed for the MacRobertson International Air Race, which was from RAF Mildenhall England, to Melbourne Australia.
Geoffrey de Havilland was determined that a British plane should win the race, yet there was no British plane that could compete with the long sections of the MacRobertson course. Thus the DH.88 was designed.
One of the three DH.88 comets competing won the race and the type of plane went on to set man aviation records. There was only 5 built.
This stunning model has exquisite detail and stands on a wooden base.
