Dragon Table Lighter

A stunning military mess table lighter in the form of a Dragon, by London Silversmiths Walker & Hall. Its main body formed of a Blackbuck antelope horn with superb cast of a silver plated dragon breathing fire with the wick in its mouth, a snuffer on lock & chain attached around one foot, the other foot placed standing on a flaming grenade. Stamped WH on its left wing.

The Dragon of Wantley is a Legend. This Legend is of a Dragon-slaying Knight in Wharncliffe Crags, South Yorkshire, England; it is a story that was told in Mr Thomas Percy’s 1767 book ‘Reliques of Ancient English Poetry.’
