Fitted with Three Lalique Glass Decanters

From our Tantalus collection, we are delighted to introduce this rare example French Lalique Tantalus. The Tantalus of typical form with a silver plated tubular body, plinth base, large squared carry handle and lock pin. The crystal glass decanter bottles are accessed by removing the locking pin and pulling the securing bracket forward. Each bottle crafted out of clear crystal glass is decorated at the base with a garland of satin- finished petals moulded in relief with a matching design highlighted on the flattened satin-finished stopper. The French Lalique Tantalus model number 13353 was designed by Marie-Claude for Lalique in 1990.

Marie-Claude Lalique (1935–2003) was a French designer and the granddaughter of the famous glassmaker René Lalique. She carried on the Lalique family tradition, becoming the head of the Lalique company in 1977. Marie-Claude introduced her own style to the brand, blending contemporary designs with the classic elegance her grandfather was known for. She expanded the company’s range to include new perfume bottles, crystal sculptures, and jewellery, keeping the Lalique name at the forefront of luxury design into the late 20th century. Her work is admired for its delicate craftsmanship and fresh interpretation of traditional Lalique themes.

Lalique is a renowned French company famous for its glass, crystal, and jewellery creations. Founded by René Lalique in the late 19th century, the brand first gained fame for its innovative Art Nouveau jewellery designs before moving into glassmaking, where it became a symbol of the Art Deco style. Lalique’s work is known for its combination of naturalistic themes, such as flowers, animals, and the female form, with elegant, flowing lines. Over time, the company expanded into producing perfume bottles, vases, lighting, and later, fine crystal. Today, Lalique remains a symbol of French luxury with both vintage and modern pieces highly prized by collectors.
