Description

Antique Tantalusveneered in fabulous figured exotic coromandel with silver plated handle, corner straps and locking mechanism. The handle is engraved with the Betjemanns patent.

On the front of the tantalus is a plaque which reads:
Goldsmiths Company 112 Regent St LondonThis Tantalus contains two fabulous lead crystal hobnail cut glass decanters. Once the tantalus is unlocked the lock can be pressed downward to enable the carry handle to be folded forwards or backwards which then allows the decanters to be removed.

This tantalus comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.

Operating the lock and key: You have to push key into the barrel of the lock and whilst keeping the key pushed in to the sprung barrel turn the key anti clockwise will unlock the Tantalus, then push down on the barrel allowing you to pull the handle either towards or away from you to remove the decanters, if its already locked you will not be able to do this until the Tantalus is unlocked.
