Description
Georgian Harewood Tea Caddyinlaid with boxwood & sycamore fluted cants, its edged and inlaid with a chequered boxwood & ebony stringing. This wonderful georgian tea caddy is inlaid with superb Black Thorn Oysters, to the top, front, and both sides with the top being book matched. The back has a single burr yew medallion.
The interior lid of the tea caddy has a worn faded pink paper, two lids which do have some age but we feel this could be replacement, they have turned bone handles and still contains most of its original tin lining.
Antique Tea Caddy comes with a fully working lock and a tasselled key.
More information on Tea Caddies can be found on our history page.
Blackthorn, or Sloe, is found in Western Asia, Europe and Northwest Africa. It is given its name due to its savage thorns which have been used for making hedge rows “cattle-proof”. Blackthorn wood is a chocolate-brown colour with hints of red and will take a high polish.
