Mahogany Oval Tea Caddysigned S.SHARP with ornate brass handle and shaped escutcheon.
The interior of this georgian oval tea caddy has traces of its original lining and the base is stamped “S. Sharp”Samuel Sharp senior & junior were Chair Makers from Norwhich 1737-1761 making this a very rare piece. Note written in the Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840 A Chair by them can be seen in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
This charming georgian oval tea caddy has superb patination, colour and has a fully working lock & taselled key.
