Extremely Rare Decanter Set

From our Decanter collection, we are delighted to offer this extremely rare set of Art Deco Decanters by Hukin & Heath. The set comprises of five individual decanter bottles each of elongated shape with Sterling Silver collars and beautifully faceted stoppers. The bottles made from glass each have lockable collars for keeping the spirits out of reach from prying hands with an individual tasselled key for each lock. When unlocked the stoppers can then be removed for pouring. The collars are all hallmarked for renowned silversmiths Hukin & Heath and each is stamped with the sterling rampant lion mark and particular date marks from 1909-1923.

Featuring a padlock design, the large decanter is silver and hallmarked Hukin & Heath 1910.
Dimensions:
Height: 12.5″ (31.75cm)
Width: 5″ (12.7cm)
Depth: 3″ (7.62cm)

Hukin & Heath 1923 is engraved on both medium-sized decanters.
Dimensions:
Height: 10″ (25.4cm)
Width: 4″  (10.16cm)
Depth: 2.5″ (6.35cm)

The two smaller decanters feature padlock designs and are hallmarked Hukin & Heath 1934 and Hukin & Heath 1909.
Dimensions:
Height: 8″ (20.32cm)
Width: 3.75″ (9.52cm)
Depth: 2.5″ (6.35cm)

It is important to note that each individual Hukin & Heath decanter bottle comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.

Hukin and Heath were important Silversmiths and electroplaters of Birmingham (1855-1953). Established by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath. They registered Birmingham marks in 1875 and London marks in 1879. The firm began working in conjunction with Dr. Christopher Dresser in 1877 and some of their most notable designs have Dresser influence.

Art Deco was a style of visual arts, architecture, and product design that first appeared in France in the 1910s. It flourished in the United States and Europe during the 1920s to early 1930s. It was hugely prevalent through styling and design of the exterior and interior of anything from large structures to small objects and even influenced fashion and jewellery. Art Deco has influenced bridges, buildings, ships, ocean liners, trains, cars, trucks, buses, furniture, and everyday objects like radios and vacuum cleaners. It has become extremely popular today and is highly desirable to collectors and trendsetters in the fashion industry.

Sterling Silver is an alloy composed by weight of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness (parts per thousand) of 925.
