Description

Antique brass bound jewellery box veneered in stunning Rosewood by Hausburg. The jewellery box has large brass strapping running around the sides and from front to back. With a large vacant initial plate typical of Hausburg design and has a protruding brass barell escutcheon.

The interior is lined with green velvet and silk paper. With a removable jewellery tray with six compartments and gold-tooled edges. It has two silvered loop handles to make removal easier.
Underneath is a green leather-backed free standing mirror, with an embossed design, housed in a special compartment.
The top half of the box has a velvet lid secured by a brass clasp. Lifting the lid reveals three storage compartments and a leather backing to the lid with a gold-tooled makers label which reads: “F. L. Hausburg 24 Church St. Liverpool”.

Complete with a fully working lock and tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
