Kingwood Sewing Boxof fabulous quality the arrangement of exquisite veneers chosen for the piece is of the highest quality, it has end grain cavetto moulding, half round on the top edge and scratched stock moulding around the base and inner edge / facings, all of which is very rare to see and expensive to produce especially on this dense hardwood timber.

The interior of this sewing box features a tray with several silk lined compartments with padded velvet lids, a velvet padded toolkit with scissors, sewing hook and various other items and six mother of pearl thread spools. The tray can be removed to reveal further storage space underneath.

This sewing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.

Kingwood, also known as Violetwood, is found in South America and is violet-brown in colour with a darker grain. It is a very dense and hard wood that is only available for smaller items due to the small tree that yields it.
