Tortoiseshell & Ivory Card box with press button catch and the word “Patience” in sliver on the lid. Patience is the UK term for solitaire with cards.

The Miniature Tortoiseshell card box contains two packs of playing cards.

The underside of the box reads: “LUND. MAKER 57. CORNHILL. LONDON.”

Thomas Lund established his business in 1804 and around 1835 went into partnership with his son William. Thomas Lund worked out of 56-57 Cornhill, London while William established his manufactory and retail shop at 24 fleet street, London. In 1845 William took over the whole business after his fathers death.
