Wonderful rare silver Tea Chest veneered in Mahogany.
A fabulous rare Tea Chest veneered in Mahagony with a Satinwood inverted top edge, elaborate Silver carrying handle with pierced rings, a Silver key profile and stands on four Silver Lion Ball & Claw Feet.
The interior contains three wonderful Rare Sterling Silver Balloon shaped Urns by London Silversmith “Pierre Gillois” dated 1771. They have embossed decoration of Festoons, with Swag Ribbon ties and stiff Acanthus, each one is also has a beautiful Dove crest engraved. The Interior has its original deep red velvet which has helped to protect the Silver Urns and comes with a fully working lock & tasselled key. The two smaller Urns would be for Tea and the larger Urn for Sugar.
This Tea Chest came from Launton House in Leicestershire along with a fantastic pair of Satinwood Knife Boxes.
