From our Tea Caddy collection, we are pleased to offer this salesman’s sample Miniature Mahogany Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy of petit rectangular form made from Mahogany  upon a raised plinth base. The exterior of the Tea Caddy is finished with a shaped escutcheon, top brass handle and moulded edge. The inside of the Tea Caddy contains three original partitioned sections for storing tea. The Tea Caddy dates to the Georgian period during the reign of George III circa 1780. This Tea Caddy is of an unusually small form measuring only 16.5cm Wide (6.5 Inches) is likely an early salesman sample.

The Antique Mahogany Tea Caddy comes complete with a working lock and tasselled key.

Mahogany is the name given to many types of tropical hardwood and can be found in Africa, India and South America, most of which are a red-brown colour with a fine, even grain.
