Officer’s Campaign Silver Travelling Drinks Box

Brass-bound Mahogany box with campaign flush-fitting carrying handles, with a small handle for a cigar drawer to the front. A lion’s crest is engraved on the brass plate to the top of the box which is replicated on all of its contents. It contains an array of silver and glass refreshment receptacles, all encased in royal blue silk velvet. The box is accompanied by its original leather carrying case.

All contents are made by three important Silversmiths: Silver Beaker with gilded rim and interior by “Robert Garrard”, London 1803. Decanters, sugar container and tea caddy all by Charles Fox, London, 1840. Pair of Coburg pattern silver teaspoons by George Adams, 1853. Each piece is engraved with the crest of a Lion signifying Bravery, Strength, Ferocity and Valour.

We believe that the box was commissioned to house prized family silver, and possibly given as a present to a family member serving in the armed forces.
