Silver cigar box featuring a horse racing themed sterling silver hand-coloured engraved printing plate under which is inscribed extensive text as follows:
“The First Steeple-Chase on Record, Nacton Church & Village, Near Ipswich as first published in 1839”

The interior of this rare unique silver cigar box has a grooved cedar lining and a single removable divider. By London silversmiths “Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd”. Dated 1929. The aquatints used are very sought after and can be seen at major galleries including the British Museum and V&A.
