Description

Antique jewellery box comprising of solid thick beautiful figured tortoiseshell panels which are semi-opaque with smooth rounded edges, the top has a vacant sterling silver initial plaque. There is a small silver push-button clasp which secures the lid. Once the lid is lifted the light passes through the tortoiseshell and really brings out the beautiful figuring and transparent colour.

The base of the antique tortoiseshell jewellery box interior is lined with a cushioned royal blue velvet. The hinges of the tortoiseshell jewellery box are fully hallmarked with the lion passant and Leopards head for London silversmiths “J Batson & Son” (Henry John Batson & Albert Edward Batson) 1896..1918 (registered Oct 1894)
