Beautiful Figured Walnut Jewellery box with ebony edging and brass escutcheons.

The interior of this jewellery box is lined with maroon velvet and silk paper and features a removable tray with several compartments including one for rings, earrings or cufflinks. Underneath the tray is further storage space for those other precious jewellery items or love letters.
The underside of the lid houses a removable velvet backed mirror. Which when removed reveals a hidden letter compartment with a makers label which reads:

The front of the jewellery box houses a secure drawer which can only be accessed once unlocked and when the box is open, by pressing the brass button on the back edge between the two hinges.
