Antique Satinwood Jewellery Boxwith a kingwood cross banding, bold engraved brass edging, round escutcheon and two campaign flush fitting carry handles.

The interior of this fantastic quality Georgian jewellery box is faced with Kingwood cross banding and has the very distinctive concealed hinge design used by Wells & Lambe. Each compartment is lined in padded green cotton velvet and silk paper. Featuring a removable tray with nine compartments, including two for rings, earrings or cufflinks and two for watch holders.

This luxurious jewellery box comes with a fully working lock which is engraved “W.Muckleston, Patent” and has a tasselled key.

Satinwood is found in India and Sri Lanka. It has a rich golden colour and an almost reflective sheen. Satinwood is traditionally used for high quality furniture.

Kingwood, also known as Violetwood, is found in South America and is violet-brown in colour with a darker grain. It is a very dense and hard wood that is only available for smaller items due to the small tree that yields it.
