Large rare solid oak antique tantalus with silver-plated carry handle, corner brackets and date plaque. The plaque is engraved: '1892'.
This very impressive Tantalus has four hobnail cut crystal decanters with star cut bases and sixteen spirit glasses, not only making this a great centrepiece for entertaining guests but will certainly keep the pourer busy serving shots so long as they've stayed away from the temptation of having a tipple.

The key to this impressive antique tantalus must be used to release the crystal decanters. Turning the key clockwise in the lock on the handle will cause the two sides of the silver plate handle to spring upwards like a pair of wings. There is a button on the top of the lock mechanism that springs up at the same time. To secure the decanters again this button must be pressed down until the side lower into place.

This impressive Tantalus has a fully working lock and a tasselled key.

We have had several four bottle tantaluses over the years as rare as they are but never this, or with all these spirit glasses.
