Very rare tea caddy part of the fruit family with green & orange mottled finish similar to melon tea caddies. The unusual band has been left to show off that it's been made out of superb figured burr sycamore, this we have never seen before. It has a turned ball finial to help when lifting its lid. The tea caddy has its original cut steel furniture and oval escutcheon, hinge and lock with replacement key which works the lock. This unusual tea caddy has wonderful untouched colour and patination. We feel person that made this tea caddy found a particular good piece of burr sycamore and rather than hide the lovely burr wanted to frame it by leaving this unusual band around the outside.

A truly unique example and one for the purist tea caddy collector.

Complete with fully working lock and tasselled key.
