Impressive large tortoiseshell tea chest with pagoda top, silver stringing, vacant initial plate and escutcheon. Standing on four turned ivory bun feet upon a inverted flared plinth.

The interior of this rather elegant tea chest features ivory facing and its original a red silk velvet lining and houses two removable hinged tea caddies with tortoiseshell lids, flanking its magnificent lead crystal cut glass sugar bowl.

The regency tortoiseshell tea chest comes with a key and fully working lock which when turned anti clockwise it locks, and clockwise to open.

The front tortoiseshell panel has a small bubble imperfection underneath the escutcheon towards the flared base. (see pictures). Please do not let this minor defect put you off this magnificent regency tortoiseshell tea chest.
