Dear friends,

We are now into November and we are tailoring our newsletter around an extremely humbling experience that Mark encountered over the last couple of weeks. It surrounds a Military figure that we had available for sale in our collection. The figure was a Silvered Boer War Solider which was presented to Corporal C Metcalf on completion of 22 years colour service. It was awarded to Corporal Metcalf by the Corporals’ mess, 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in Cheshire.

Mark initially was contacted by a new client enquiring about purchasing the figure, after a few emails it became transparent that the client was actually Corporal Chris Metcalf of whom the award was originally given to several years ago. After a many emails forwards and backwards we discovered that the figure was sold for personal reasons and that Corporal Metcalf was tracking down his possessions to once again have them in his ownership. Mark was delighted to oblige and we have some photos below of Corporal Metcalf who has been extremely willing to aid in our story.

Awards for Service
From left to right;

Corporal Metcalf completed 23.5 years of service of which nearly all of it was within the 22nd Cheshire regiment as well as the Staffordshire regiment, the Blackwatch and, the Royal Welsh regiment. Everyone here at Mark Goodger Antiques thanks you for your service and we are extremely humbled to have been able to reunite you with your Award.
In light of current affairs and the subject of this newsletter as a thank you to all to all service men and woman around the world, Mark Goodger Antiques are donating 5% of all profits through this newsletter to the Poppy Appeal.
