Antique mahogany apothecary box with a large vacant brass initial plate, brass escutcheon and drawer handle. Lifting the lid reveals the burgundy velvet lined interior with fourteen glass jars. Some have their original labels which read:
" Calamine Lotion B.P.C., Iodide of Potash, Essence of Ginger, Bilious & Liver Pills, Essence of Peppermint, Clycerine and Rose Water "

The front edge of the open Apothecary box has a small brass pin that keeps the drawer secure when the box is closed. Inside the drawer is a glass mortar & pestle, measuring beaker, two small vials with cork stoppers, a set of weighing scales with brass weights, a spoon and a palette knife (labelled: S. Mawson & Thompson Aldersgate St.)

This victorian apothecary box comes with a fully working lock and a tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
