Rosewood Veneered Jewellery Box with Inlaid Decoration
From our Jewellery Box collection, we are pleased to offer this Inlaid Rosewood Jewellery Box.
The jewellery box of rectangular form is beautifully veneered in rosewood to the exterior and inlaid with brass, pewter, bone and mother of pearl inlay in various scrolling motifs with parallel stringing framing the lid and front. To the lid there is a vacant initial plaque to the centre of the decoration with a loose butterfly shaped decoration around the escutcheon. The interior of the jewellery box is lined in a cushioned silver velvet with multiple partitions including two tracks of ring and cufflink holders to the outside. The top tray is removed via the two brass side tabs to access further storage below. To one side of the facing there is a small brass pin which can be removed to access the spring loaded side drawer which pulls out to reveal a further partitioned storage area.
The Jewellery Box dates to the late 19th century Victorian period circa 1870.
