Antique Writing Box veneered in Exotic Coromandel with brass quadrant edging, double stringing and Satinwood lined interior.

With an elegant rounded top and elaborate engraved brass initial plate and matching escutcheon. The initial plate has the monogram “C. M”.

Lifting the lid reveals its true splendour and almost untouched interior, firstly you can see it has a leather-lined interior with gold tooling with three writing tablets. The underside of the lid has several stationery compartments and a fitted tool pad which houses a letter opener, scissors, pen and pencil.

The front of the writing box is hinged to open and reveal a royal blue velvet writing surface with gold tooling. Both the upper and lower halves of the writing surface lift to reveal storage spaces. The upper half is lockable and comes with a working key. The underside of the upper surface has a makers plaque that reads: “Pearce. Maker. 77 Cornhill London“.
