With Hand Painted Decoration
From our Tea Caddy collection, we are delighted to offer this Georgian Satinwood Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy of square form with canted corners and single loop top handle. The Tea Caddy decorated to the exterior with four hand painted urns to each larger panel and draped bows to each canted corner. The lid features an oval cartouche surrounding the handle with a painted shell decoration. The interior of the Tea Caddy contains traces of the original Silver foil lining and has a lid with matching handle to the exterior. The Tea Caddy dates to the 18th century Georgian period during the reign of George III circa 1790.
The Tea Caddy comes complete with working lock and tasselled key.
Satinwood is found in India and Sri Lanka. It has a rich golden colour and an almost reflective sheen. Satinwood is traditionally used for high quality furniture.
Canted Corner is an angled line or surface that cuts off a corner. A building or object with a cant bares canted corners.
