First of all a warm welcome to our new subscribers, and as always thank you all for taking time to read our fortnightly newsletter.
Our last newsletter we had several of our pieces snapped up within minutes of it going out, a few hours later more were added to this list growing list. Very pleased to report most of the lucky customers are now in possession of their goodies delivered to all parts of the world from as far as Australia, USA and Europe with lovely comments received from very happy new custodians of some very fine and rare pieces. Huge thanks again.
FAIRS SHALL GO AHEAD…!
Prime minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that conferences and exhibitions will be permitted in England from 1 October 2020. So we will be able to exhibit at two fairs by the end of the year, first being Winter Olympia which is held in conjunction with Homes & Gardens 3rd – 8th November. The the other being Antiques For Everyone at Birmingham’s Nec 19th – 22nd Nov, so please put these dates in your diary. These events will be run in full compliance with the government guidelines. More details all about these fairs will be available nearer the time, so don’t worry you’ll certainly be well informed.
During this pandemic you may of noticed we have added some super items, this weeks newsletter is no different and again contains some very special pieces. If these feel out of reach, and you really would love to own it or them, then please call us or email, we understand these objects pull heart strings and if you don’t ask you don’t get, we are only too happy to help where we can, a piece can be purchased by layaway.
We are so proud to have helped many collectors build some amazing collections, and we continue to do so. If you are wanting us to build you a super collection, or simply want more advice on our pieces and why it is you should buy a certain piece over another then get in touch.
Caring for your antiques
We thought we would give a little guide on how to look after your antique boxes!
Must not be placed in direct sunlight or near any heat source.
Wax polish once or twice a year using a soft wax, don’t worry about specific colour. Most hardware shops sell these and they can also be purchased online. Apply the wax with a soft cloth in a circular direction, don’t worry about getting it on any brass, leave for one minute then with another soft cloth rub it off and this should leave a nice shine.
Before using the key on your box we advise to lock and unlock the box with the lid in the open position, this way you get to feel the tolerance of the lock and key, once you are happy how the key turns in the lock then you can proceed to shut the lid down and lock the box. In some cases you may have to apply a little pressure on the lid of the box. Remember I’m an antique over 100 years old I do need a little care, care for me well and I will give you many years of pleasure and hope to be passed on to another person for another 100 years of use.

A WARNING ABOUT FAKES!
More and more of us are shopping online during these times which has seen a surge in rogues out there keen to prise you of your hard earned money. Please be careful when buying antiques online, fakers have been really busy and making lots of money! So many flaws hidden by clever photography, added inlays, period caddies re veneered and turned into what appear to be rare unusual designs, these unscrupulous fraudsters giving us dealers a bad name! So please, do your homework thoroughly on the person / dealer and the item you are looking to buy.
I am happy to give my opinion and will not charge you for my time especially if you’re a customer of ours. I do this for many of my collectors, after all I am as keen as you to help build the best collection money can buy.
